NHL Hockey Star Mika Zibanejad is a Student at the Canada Recording Connection.
Mika Zibanejad is well known in the world of hockey as a rising star. Originally hailing from Sweden, Zibanejad scored the winning goal for his home country in the gold medal round in the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships against Russia, and today, he plays centre for the Ottawa Senators in the NHL.
A lesser-known fact about Zibanejad is that he has a passion for producing EDM music, and he’s been working out of his home studio for years. To further develop his skills, he recently enrolled as a student at the Canada Recording Connection, apprenticing at Johnny Hall Productions in Ottawa.
The Recording Connection is not merely a vocational school to teach a trade—it’s a place to pursue dreams. Many of our students have full-time jobs elsewhere, but they want to pursue music production as a secondary career or even for personal fulfillment. Our program is unique in that it can be tailored to fit hectic schedules and a variety of skill levels. Mika Zibanejad already has a rewarding career in hockey, but he wants more—and yet, understandably, his schedule playing for the Senators takes up a lot of his time. The Recording Connection has proven to be a great fit for him because he can attend classes in a real recording studio in Ottawa, and he can pursue his dreams of producing EDM music on his own schedule. Plus, he receives personal, one-on-one instruction from a real music industry pro.
No matter what your skill level, and no matter what your current schedule allows, there is still time to pursue your dreams of being an audio engineer, music producer, electronic musician or live DJ. The Canada Recording Connection can place you as a working apprentice in a world-class recording studio near where you live and work, and your mentor can work with your schedule to tailor a plan that is right for you! If someone as busy as Mika Zibanejad can do it, so can you.
