Judge Mathis and the Recording Connection: Teaming Up to Help the Community
PROFESSIONAL AUDIO TRAINING AND CAREER MENTORING FOR THOSE IN NEED.
The Recording Connection is proud to partner with Judge Greg Mathis (of The Judge Mathis Show) to offer unique career mentoring opportunities for troubled young people in need. Through a new scholarship fund called The Connectors, Judge Mathis and the Recording Connection are now able to offer six-month apprenticeships in real recording studios, where students can learn audio engineering and music production from seasoned professionals—all at NO CHARGE.
JUDGE MATHIS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Judge Mathis, a prominent television judge, is a high-profile proponent of community involvement. Not only has he helped many troubled young people through his television show, but he has also established other organizations such as Prisoner Empowerment Education and Respect (PEER) and Young Adults Asserting Themselves (YAAR).
AN EMERGING PARTNERSHIP
When Judge Mathis brought a troubled young aspiring filmmaker onto the television show Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers, he invited Brian Kraft (Chief Academic Officer for Recording Radio Film Connection) to help. Kraft appeared on the show and offered the young man a full-ride scholarship to attend the Film Connection’s Learn In LA program, which deeply impacted his life. The moment also had a deep effect upon Kraft, as well as co-founder Jimi Petulla, and The Connectors scholarship fund was established as a way to continue giving to the community through professional mentorship. Thanks to The Connectors fund, the partnership with Judge Mathis is able to be extended to allow professional mentoring scholarships in other career fields, including audio engineering through the Recording Connection.
THE POWER OF PROFESSIONAL MENTORING
Traditional education follows a particular format that is not always beneficial for every student, causing some who would otherwise be successful to fall through the cracks. Professional mentoring creates a one-on-one learning environment in which the student can be guided and mentored as well as instructed. As a result, passionate students who are often overlooked in traditional education formats can move into exciting and rewarding careers.
The Recording Connection has a history spanning nearly 30 years in which professional mentoring has had proven results through the schools mentor-apprentice approach. Thanks to The Connectors scholarship fund, the Recording Connection and Judge Mathis can now offer these powerful mentoring opportunities to qualified candidates AT NO CHARGE.
